The Company is engaged in the development, production, and sale of direct current (DC) motors and DC motors with accessory for the automotive sector primarily in India. The Company offers automotive motors, motors for use in office automation equipment, household electrical appliance motors, and motors for use in power tools and electric reels. It also provides assembly services, such as end cap/case/armature services. Igarashi Motors also sells its products in the United States, Europe, and the Far East.Last year the operations of the Company suffered unprecedented losses due to a combination of Forex losses and slow down of business.During the prsent fiscal Sales prices were re-negotiated with the customers and the impact will be visible in the coming year.The Management also re-structured the operations in line with fall in business and resorted to cost reduction.The period October08 to March09 was a very challenging period in view of sharp decline in business. Igarashi took all possible steps to survive the down turn. Some loans were re-structured and others are being re-structured and comopany is reasonably hopeful that it will return to operational health by the second half of FY 10.Its joint venture with Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany has begun commercial operations .The company hopes to supply sub-assemblies to the joint venture, which would result in increase in sales.The joint venture will help Igarashi Motors source raw materials at more competitive prices and also increase the company�s sub-assemblies business.Igarashi Motors manufactures DC micro motors mainly for automotive applications. These are used in areas such as power window motors and wiper motors. "It is estimated that DC motors used per car will increase from an average of 25-30 units in each car today,to 40-45 units in about 2-3 years.All these makes igarashi motors a reasonabe bet for someone looking at a pure auto ancillary play.A good buy altogether.
