Bharat Bijlee Ltd:-Buy/sell/hold,growth prospects and recomendation, news and results, target price and analysis, views and outlook

Scripscan:Bharat Bijlee Ltd

Story:Story:The company manufactures transformers and electric motors. The transformer segment has gained the most from the increased focus on the power sector. The demand for transformers comes from generation and transmission capacity addition — mostly in the form of new demand — and from the distribution sector as replacement demand. As a thumb rule, 1 mw of new generation capacity requires 7 MVA of transformer capacity to deliver power at the consumption centre. With the target of adding another 100,000 mw of generation capacity, about 700,000 MVA of transformer capacity will be required in the next 4-5 years. This will result in an annual demand of about 140,000 MVA.Apart from this, there is significant demand from the replacement market.Bharat Bijlee’s prospects are quite good, with increased investments in the power sector, particularly in the distribution sector.Another important feature of the company is that it has significant investment in quoted equity, as per its annual report(BBL has a long-term investment in Siemens (2.8mn shares) and HDFC (0.10mn shares).Strong financials and expanded capacities, combined with increased demand for transformers on the back of power reforms lend strength to the earnings prospects for Bharat Bijlee over the medium term. The company has corected a lot from its 52week high.Adding the company to core portfolio at dips certainly should help the portfolio to grow steadily over the years to come.
