Scripscan:Mount Everest Mineral Water Ltd

Story:Mount Everest Mineral Water is engaged in manufacture of mineral water (in bottles), PET bottles and in bulk containers with dispensers. It belongs from the TATA stable and is gearing up to be a global force to reckon with in the industry that it operates in.The company commands a 50 per cent share in this market and are in the process of building up this category. With the backing of Tata Tea’s distribution network, the Himalayan brand is currently expanding its distribution network and building its retail presence.Apart from grocery and convenience stores, Himalayan mineral water is expected to be available in 6,000 eating and fine-dining outlets. In its partnership with Tata Tea the company would have ready access to its 10 lakh outlets and using its penetration to have retail presence for the Himalayan brand. In the past Himalayan was sold largely in the institutional and food services segment catering to hotels, airlines and embassies. The company is now busy expanding its retail distribution by appointing consignee and distributors in various parts of the country. The business model is unique and its a pure mineral water play.I was searching for comparable (pure play mineral water co.) valuatons in other markets to get some vision of the big picture. I came across 1.DANONE of France, world leader in natural mineral water in volume terms, brand EVIAN from french alps, 2).Nestle waters north america, brands PERRIER, VITTEL etc, with sales of running in over couple of billion usd.Once the numbers starts to improve mount everest can turn out to be a stunner of a scrip which posses the ability to create immense amount of shareholders wealth. My only concerns remains on the assumption of a merger between itself and TATA tea,in case that happens it would be a huge disappointment.Keep aside that and hers a company going global with its huge distribution reach and retail presence backed by a pedigree like the TATA's.A counter to watch for in the months and years to come.
