Story:RPP Infra Projects Ltd has executed over 200 civil construction projects across various segments of construction and infrastructure industry. The Company has diversified its civil work expertise into SEZ Development, Water Management projects,Irrigation and Power Projects. It is doing business in the South Indian region, covering states of Karnataka,Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Andaman Nicobar Islands. The Company has recently entered the Sri Lanka market and currently executing project in the Railway sector.RPP has bagged a Rs.15.0-billion housing project in March 2011 from the Government of Gabon, a country in West Central Africa, to be executed over 36 months in ten phases. The project will result in significant increase in the company’s working capital requirement due to the long credit period, entailing an increase in debt-funding and deterioration in the financial risk profile.RPP certainly will be exposed to execution risks given the large size of its maiden project in Africa.Going forward, the company proposes to bid for BOT projects in JV with other players.Since the company lacks any sort of previous experience in the BOT space, doubt remain on its skill-sets and execution capabilities in this highly competitive and long gestation business segment.Rising debt levels, small size of operations, likely venture into inexperienced waters and expensive valuations asks one to exit the counter.
